The Memory of Running

The Memory of Running is a novel by Ron McLarty. It is 358 pages long and is a fairly easy read. The book mainly takes place in Rhode Island, but also jumps around the entire United Stated. The main character is Smithy Ide, who has an inner struggle with himself. Smithy is very insecure and shy. The books goes through the expierances of Smithy's "quest" across the U.S.A on his bicycle, and his entire life. This book is filled with suprises in every chapter.
I would request this novel to someone who interseted in phsychological problems and wanting just a good heartwarming book. I would rate this book an A-

  1. The riding on the bicycle across the US reminds me of when Forrest Gump runs across the US. I can't wait to hear more of your stories so I can find some I might want to read.

  3. I remember you telling me all about this book in pre-calc! I think it sounds very interesting. I'm especially drawn to the psychological aspect in the novel.

  4. What is the inner struggle that he has? Is it that because he is shy, the struggle is he needs/wants to not be? Are there any other important characters?
